More on the film: We Are Marshall is based on the true story of the 1970 plane crash that killed 75 members of the Marshall University football team, coaches, university staff, community members and crew members. The tragedy is known as one of the worst disasters in the history of sports. The movie costars McConaughey, Matthew Fox (Lost), Ian McShane (Deadwood), David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck) and Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Father of the Bride). It opens December 22.
