Gloria's Candy Bar Cookies

3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sifted powder sugar
2 tablespoons evaporated mild
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teapsoon salt
2 cups flour

Cookie: Cream butter and gradually add powdered sugar, creaming well. Add Milk, vanilla and salt. Mix well. Add flour, mix thoroughly. chill dough, then roll half at a time into 1 12 by 8 inch rectangle. Cut into 3 by 1/2 rectangles. Place on uncreased cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 to 16 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool. Caramel Filing: Combine in the top of double boiler 1/2 pounds light-colored candy caramels and 1/4 cup evaporated milk. Heat until caramels melt, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup butter, 1 cup sifted powdered sugar and i cup chopped pecans. Chocolate Icing: Melt 1 cup of semi-cweet chocolate chips with 1/3 cup evaporated milk over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in two tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 cup powdered sugar.

Spread 1 teaspoon of filling on each cooke and top with icing. Add pecan half to top of icing.

Yes, I was well known in the neighborhood and church for my cookies. I like to try different combinations on cookies, I take a basic cookie recipe and add my own variations to it.
