My mom was a working mom so we didn't spend a lot of time in the kitchen together growing up. However, I did help her make this recipe from time-to-time. She had written down in an old Home Economics textbook that she had used in school. It was covered with flour and cocoa from making this recipe. I now have that old book at my house and enjoy adding a little fresh flour and cocoa to its pages from time to time.
