Chocolate Dream Cranberry
1 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
10 Tbs butter, room temp
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c semi sweet choc chips
1/2 c white choc chips
1/2 c coarsely chopped cranberries
dark choc for drizzling
Wisk flour, banking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a medium bowl and set a side. Using a mixer beat butter and both sugars until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add flour mixture and blend. Stir in choc chips and cranberries. Drop batter by rounded tablespoonfuls onto parchment paper lined cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, transfer to racks to cool. Melt dark choc in microwave or on double boiler until smooth, might need to add a little crisco to thin choc so you can drizzle it easier. Use a frok and drizzle choc over cookies. Note best to place wax paper under cooling racks to catch extra choc drizzle and makes clean up easier.
This is not a family recipe. I started with a basic choc chip recipe and added parts from other cookies that I have made. Started with the cranberries, citrus goes great with choc. Then added different chocolates to give it an overload of choc flavor. Started thinking about Fall holiday baking and the armoras that fill your kitchen and came up with the cinnamon and nutmeg to give it that kick of Fall spice. This is a great Fall Holiday or winter cookie with the cranberies,cinnamon and nutmeg in it. I have ben helping in the kitchen baking since I was 4 years old with my mom and grandmother. In college I would bake cakes and cookies for my roommates and from their it has turned into a hobby you can say for me. Then in my young adult life I started baking more on the weekend as a way to relax and to make goodies to take to work for my co-workers to enjoy. At family gaterings for holidays it is standard that I bring some sort of dessert or it just wouldn't be the same to them.
