Kitchen Sink Cookies

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (do not substitute ground nutmeg for fresh. Omit if not available.)
2 cups quick cooking oats
1 cup coconut
1 cup walnuts
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup mixed dried fruit (cherries, cranberries, blueberries)
1/2 cup dried cranberries

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease baking sheets. Cream butter, sugar, and eggs. Add vanilla. Mix dry ingredients in another bowl and blend into the wet mixture. Stir in the nuts, raisins, coconut and dried fruit. Drop by heaping tablespoons 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

This recipe is a family favorite that is my variation of an oatmeal cookie. It gets its name "Kitchen Sink Cookies" because you throw in everything but the kitchen sink.
