Nana Harrold's Orange Cookies

Dough:
1 Cup shortening (she used Crisco)
½ tsp salt
2 Cups sugar
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
½ Cup orange juice with grated rind
1 Cup buttermilk
3-1/4 t0 4 cups flour
Icing:
2 Cups powdered sugar
OJ—enough to make of spreading consistency.

Cream sugar and shortening together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, mixing well. Add juice and rind, mixing well. Combine dry ingredients. Add alternately with buttermilk to shortening mixture. Drop by teaspoonful 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 375 (until edges are lightly browned). Makes 6 dozen. Frost after cookies are cool.<
