me & my "3 cuties" summer '07I was 38 years old when I was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. I had just weaned my youngest son from nursing. My OB discovered the lump in my R breast, in December of '03. I had a radical mastectomy, followed by aggressive chemotherapy, then radiation. I have no family history of breast (or other types) of cancer. But given the fact I was so young, the doctors suggested genetic testing. In Jan. 04, I learned I did NOT carry the BRACA gene. The docs said it was a "fluke" that I got cancer in the first place. Unfortunatly, 10 months later, I was diagnosed with a second breast cancer in my left breast. I had another radical mastectomy. I continue with treatments: injections every 4 weeks and arimidex every day. With supportive family and friends, I continue with the strength and hope that a cure will be found... soon... for us and for our daughters. Peace. ~Rose~ on 09/25/07 |
