I had a very thorough annual exam in December 2005, nothing found; I had my annual mammogram in January 2006, nothing found. I happened to find my lump in May 2006 while taking a shower, and I wasn't even doing a self exam. I have NO family history of breast cancer and the genetic test was negative. I did what was right for me, I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction and I have ZERO regrets. I've been in remission for three years now.
