HopperThis is a picture of our awesome family cat, Hopper, as a kitten. The picture shows him shortly after he was rescued from a vacant lot in Brooklyn by a friend. After making sure Hopper had all his shots, I took him on the Long Island Railroad out to my mom's house: he was a birthday present. He was just this little guy with great big ears at the time, and I took him in a box by taxi to the train station. The whole way there, he was crying and licking my fingers through the air holes for comfort. Everybody who meets Hopper falls in love with him--he's got a great personality, very funny and cuddly and bossy--and the cab driver on that first trip was no exception. Every time Hopper meowed, the cab driver would meow back in sympathy. Eventually I joined in, too. So the whole ride went like this:

I think that conversation with the cabbie could have made it on "America's Funniest Home Videos"! Hopper is sure cute!

The Cat That Charmed the Cabby ...sounds like a great book title! ;-) He is adorable!
